An aesthetically pleasing, ergonomically correct bent plywood chair. Designed and fabricated with limited tooling funds in mind, using only a single mold to create all of the bends.
Existing chairs were evaluated based on comfort, aesthetic, manufacturing process/materials, and design intent.
Various stages of concept sketching.
Concepts were prototyped in the 'Ergo Box' to test overall comfort and ergonomic considerations.
Quick models investigating form and construction methods.
Drawings detailing final form, dimensions, and joinery.
The final chair was constructed with bending ply and birch veneer. Bends were formed over a single mold in a vacuum bag.
